What To Think in the Absence of Nonsense

Insight #368:

Did you know that you always have a shadow following you around? It does not matter where you go or what you do, there your shadow will be.

But to see a shadow clearly, you need light. A shadow exists when there is an obstacle that blocks the light. Shadow itself is the mirror image of the absence of light caused by an obstacle when there is some light around. Does this mean that if there is no light to block, there can be no shadow? Weirdly not. Because when all light is gone, all is shadow, and shadow becomes the new normal. Until the light returns.

Did you know that we always have nonsense following us around? Nonsense will be there, no matter where we go or what we do.

But to see nonsense clearly, we need sense. Nonsense exists when there is an obstacle that blocks sense. Nonsense itself is the mirror image of the absence of sense caused by an obstacle when there is some sense around. Does this mean that if there is no sense to obstruct, there can be no nonsense? Weirdly not. Because when all sense is missing, all is nonsense, and nonsense becomes the new normal. Until sense returns.

Let’s clarify:

  • Shadow is the absence of light.
  • Nonsense is the absence of sense.
  • A shadow does not exist until light arrives. We cannot see shadows unless there is light.
  • Nonsense does not exist until sense arrives. We cannot recognize nonsense unless sense is present.

Now let’s simplify:

  • When light is absent, all is shadow. We call it darkness.
  • When sense is absent, all is nonsense. We call it the Dark Ages.

So, when you think there is no nonsense, think again.

Welcome to my side of the nonsense divide.
