Were You a Torch or a Laser?

Trigger Question #39

When you’re running out of time, it’s time to make like a laser. (Created with Microsoft Copilot)

. . .

Do you have a dog or a cat? Do you have a laser pointer? If so, then you already have a clear mental picture that explains this Trigger Question. (For those of you who don’t know, most dogs and cats are obsessed with the goal of catching the dot of the laser beam.)

Now that I have set the scene, answer this. Are you still obsessed with meeting your goals?

Believe it or not, there’s still enough time left in the year for you to achieve a few of your goals and resolutions that you so naively set for yourself in January. But only if you give them the laser treatment.

What is a laser? It is a thingy that boosts a beam of light. The more powerful the laser, the brighter the light and sharper the focus.

A torch is different. The more powerful the torch, the wider the beam and duller the focus.

If you act like a torch, you will see too many options. But you will see no option clearly. This will make it difficult for you to decide what to do.

To see the right option, you need to focus your light. You need to give your goals the laser treatment.

Yes, I know, dogs and cats cannot reach the goal of catching the dot of the laser beam. But you are not a dog or a cat. Your target is not the dot of the laser. Your intention is to focus like a laser. So, make this your goal-focusing mantra:

When you’re running out of time, it’s time to make like a laser.

Welcome to my side of the nonsense divide.
